Ongoing change in life

Here's one student's ongoing experience. 

My time with InterVarsity has been cause for a consistent, slow, and rather difficult change of attitude. The main factor is that I am often around fellow brothers and sisters in Christ; this particularly motivates me to behave and act in certain ways that I otherwise would not. Prior to becoming a part of InterVarsity, I did not surround myself with godly folk, at least not in the most obvious ways one would imagine. While ultimately it has been a good thing to be held accountable to other people, it certainly hasn't been easy. It's been quite the 180 for me: going from hateful to loving, intolerant to patient, prideful to humble, etc. And certainly I have succeeded in some areas better than other, as I think I will continue to do so until I die. 

Mostly InterVarsity has provided me with an actual community of Christians who want to be godly. Often times the Christians I met who were my age, prior to InterVarsity, were just faux Christians--people who said they believed but never really thought about how those beliefs should show themselves in their social and political lives. They were incredibly lazy, even more so than I. InterVarsity has more or less been a force against me to not be lazy like them. I have still a ways to go before I can offer a true story of my time with InterVarsity, but such as it is, this is what my time has been like.

Chapter Email Specifics

We would love to see you at any of the events so we can live out Romans 10:13-15 and all 4,850 students can hear the gospel while at Fredonia. It's not realistic to come to everything so we highly encourage picking one small group to commit to and checking out at least one of the Friday events regularly.  Here's the list of current small groups, churches, and our mission on campus.

Our Mission on Fredonia's Campus

Our mission and goal is to establish and advance witnessing communities on campus.  Because we believe that people on campus desire to know Christ and that Christians are sent out into the world to serve God, we are working to see students and faculty be actively involved in God's mission on campus through InterVarsity, in small groups and with the chance for students to accept Christ and say yes to Jesus. We want to see students and faculty transformed, the campus renewed, and world changers developed.  As we work to reach the campus for Christ, let's take the step to get to know people who are looking for community.  Through reaching out to others (Christians and non-Christians), our relationship with God deepens because we're putting His word into practice.  Pray that we'll meet this goal in the next few years and consider your role in it.

As Romans 10:13-15 says, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”  How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
We desire to be a sending location for those with beautiful feet that bring the good news to the 4,850 students on campus.
